Sig - a "So So Happy" Moody
I have found my new inspiration for the next series of amigurumis. This super cute website - So So Happy!
I had taken a picture of their characters over a year ago on the back of a memory card we purchased. I never caught the name of the company who made them though.
Recently, we were at Wal-Mart and saw their merchandise again! This time with website attached. I quickly took some pictures and have been inspired ever since. This character is from the Moodees. The opposite of the Friendlees. He's a crabby little guy! Always roaring, never happy.
His design was a little time-consuming, but the overall project is worth the time.
I just love him! Maybe he'll love me back...
Enjoy!

Add legs…From beg of rnd marker, count
out 18 sc, place marker, then make sure you have 18 more sc on the other side.
Begin 1st leg:
Rnd 1: sc in next 18 sc (this includes
the st with the marker in it), remove marker, pinch body together so that the
18th sc and the beg of rnd marker meet, sl st in 1st sc
where beg of rnd marker is. This will connect the body and create two legs.
From here you will be crocheting around only one leg.
Rnd 2: sc in same sc as sl st, then sc
in each of the remaining 17 sc around (Do NOT sc on other side yet) – 18 sc.
Rnds 3 - 6: sc in each sc around – 18
sc.
Rnd 7: *sc2tog, sc in next sc; rep
from * around – 12 sc.
Rnd 8: (sc2tog) around – 6 sc.
Sl st in next st. Fasten off, leaving
a long tail.
Before beginning 2nd leg, prep and place the eyes.
Body with 1st leg completed |
1. Cut
out 2 circles of white felt that are just a bit larger than the eyes you have
chosen. Cut a small slit in the felt and push the stem of the eye through the
slit.
Then, place the large spike on the head. Pin in place.
Using the horn for reference,
mark where you’d like the eyes to go.
2. Place
eyes on the body where you marked them.
3. Next, stuff body half way and first leg firmly. You will want to leave a little space around the 2nd leg to work your stitches.
4. After stuffing first leg,
use the long tail to sew the foot closed.
Begin 2nd leg:
Rnd 1: Sl st in first sc on front of
body and sc in same sp, sc in remaining 17 sc around – 18 sc.
Rnd 2: Reaching across gap, sc in
first sc, sc in remaining 17 sc around – 18 sc.
Rnds 3-6: Sc in each sc around – 18
sc.
Finish stuffing body and 2nd
leg. Continue stuffing after each of the next 2 rnds.
Rnd 7: *sc2tog, sc in next sc; rep
from * around – 12 sc.
Rnd 8: (sc2tog) around – 6 sc.
Sl st in next st. Fasten off, leaving
a long tail. Sew foot closed.
(If it bothers you, take a small
length of black yarn and sew up the small hole that forms between the legs as
well.)
Arms – make 2:
Body with 2nd leg completed |
With G-7 hook and A, ch 2.
Rnd 1: Work 6 sc in first ch;
place a marker to indicate beg of rnd; move marker up as each rnd is
completed.
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around – 12 sc.
Rnds 3+: Sc in each sc around until arm reaches 2 ½ “.
Sl st in next sc. Fasten off, leaving a long tail.
Rnd 2: 2 sc in each sc around – 12 sc.
Rnds 3+: Sc in each sc around until arm reaches 2 ½ “.
Sl st in next sc. Fasten off, leaving a long tail.
Stuff a small amount of fiberfill down
inside the “hand” part of the arm, do NOT stuff all the way up. Set aside.
Small horns – make 2, 1 pink / 1 purple:
With E-3 hook, C, and D, ch 2.
Row 1: Work 3 sc in 2nd ch
from hook – 3 sc.
Row 2: 2 sc in each sc around – 6 sc.
Row 3: sc in each sc around – 6 sc.
Sl st in next sc. Fasten off, leaving
a long tail.
Stuff a small amount of fiberfill
inside each horn. Set aside.
Small Tummy oval:
With E-3 hook and E, ch 7.
Row 1: Sc in 2nd ch from
the hook, sc in next 5 chs. Do NOT turn.
Row 2: 2 sc in same sp as last sc.
Working in back loops of ch, sc in next 4 loops, 3 sc in last loop.
Row 3: Sc in next sc, sc in next 5 sc,
3 sc in next sc.
Row 4: Sc in next sc, sc in next 6 sc,
3 sc in next sc.
Row 5: sc in next sc, sc in next 2 sc,
2 sc in next sc, sc in next 3 sc, 3 sc in next sc.
Row 6: sc in next sc, sc in next 3 sc,
2 sc in next sc, sc in next 3 sc, sl st in next 2 sc.
Sl st in next sc. Fasten off, leaving
a long tail.
Assembly:
1. Gather
your body piece, arms, horns (3), and tummy oval.
2. Horns: Pin each
horn to the top of the head. Sew using the long tails from each horn.
3. Make the mouth:
Cut a medium size oval out of the red felt, a small oval out of the black felt
and a tooth- shaped piece out of the white felt.
Horns, eye, and mouth completed |
4. Using
the fabric glue, glue the tooth piece to the top of the red oval and the small
black oval to the bottom. Glue the red oval to the body, just below the eyes.
5. Left eye: (With
the front of the body facing you) For the left eye, cut out a black circle from
the black felt, slightly larger than the white circle cut for the eye. Cut the
black circle in half. Glue the half circle over the left eye. (It’s a good idea
to pin the edges of this half circle down until the glue is dry.
6. Tummy oval: Place
and pin the tummy oval 2 rows down from the bottom of the red oval mouth. Sew
in place using the long tail.
Tummy oval ready for sewing |
7. Place
and pin the arms in line with the black oval in the mouth. Sew in place using
the long tail.
Finished!
